ez Ski

The founder, Tom Ruedy, was a member of Mount Hood Ski Patrol at Mt. Hood, Oregon before he was paralyzed in a diving accident on the Columbia River, near the Portland airport.  As a ski patrol member, he utilized the rescue sleds to assist injured skiers down the mountain.  Based on this experience, he realized the rescue sleds were uncomfortable, and impossible to use in areas outside the ski runs.  He thought that a different rescue device could be used for remote rescue operations.  He enjoyed cross-country skiing, and found that there were no rescue apparatus available for outback & remote areas.

Disabled skiers must have control of upper extremities to be able to negotiate uneven terrain in varying conditions.  Now the severely disabled have access to ski slopes with the ez Hiker ski.  The ski is easy to handle, and the skier feels very secure when using it.  "The feeling of skiing again, the excitement, and the fresh air are both fun & exhilarating" says Ruedy.

Recreation for the disabled skier now has no limits.  The chair lift will accomodate the apparatus with only a single bungi cord to hold it in place, when folded.  Outback destinations are now accessible for the disabled cross-country skier.  Day hikes or over-nighters are now possible for the entire family.

ez Hiker Ski Chair is Patent Pending.
